In painting and calligraphy on wood, paper and canvas, Hagar Kadima – Composer and Visual Artist – illustrates the dichotomy between the sensation of eternity instigated by a painful experience as it strikes, and its radical dwarfing in retrospective examination.

Kadima’s text is located at the epicenter of her exhibition. It is evident in every one of her works as a beacon, a signal, a message and reminder that life is the total sum of our pits. At the same time it is an optimistic motif consoling us for our past pits while warning us from fearing future abysses.
Kadima uses natural materials such as paper, canvas and wood, which absorb ink and aquarelle almost with no control or guiding hand, to write an impeccable text. To preserve the balance within the dissonance between meticulous and free, Kadima disposes of the poetic structure of the text, and isolates its words while abandoning the formal shape of letters and words until they become abstract and enigmatic as nebulous ink stains. Thus, the text metamorphoses at once from carrier of a message to expresser of visual sentiment in the tradition of Kandinsky – a fragile, esthetic, touching work of art, at once ascetic and rich.

Kadima appropriates harmony, composition, statement, improvisation, dynamic and rhythm from her world as a musician and composer, and injects them into her lyric ink drawings. Music’s poetic abstraction blends in her visual art, establishing Kadima as a unique, stirring, dynamic voice.
